Border guards bust Vietnam bound smuggling ring

VOV.VN - Dien Bien border guards reported they intercepted two Lao suspects yesterday (June 7) attempting to carry kilos of heroin and thousands of pills of meth across the Lao border into Vietnam.

Both suspects fessed up and admitted they purchased the drugs in Laos and planned to resell them in the provinces of Lao Cai and Lai Chau in Vietnam.

The border guards said at a press conference that Lo Van Vun, 41, and Lo Van Vung, 21, from the province of Phoongsaly in Laos tried to hoodwink inspectors at the border and conceal two kilos of heroin and 4,000 meth tablets in their luggage.

The two men are charged with trafficking drugs and belonging to a criminal organization. Border guards say they are continuing to investigate the matter and identify other members of the smuggling ring.
