Ambassador vows to expand Vietnam-Ecuador ties

Vietnamese Ambassador to Ecuador Nguyen Ngoc Son pledged to make active contributions to further expanding bilateral ties, especially in economy, when presenting a letter of credentials to acting President of Ecuador Maria Alejandra Vicuna on May 8.

Son spoke highly of the Ecuadorian government’s decision to open an embassy in Hanoi and believed that bilateral ties will further grow in the coming time. 

Vicuna, for her part, expressed her wish that the Vietnamese government will actively consider the opening of an embassy in Quito. 

The host conveyed regards of President Lenin Moreno and Ecuadorian people to President Tran Dai Quang and Vietnamese people. 

Earlier on May 7, the Vietnamese ambassador also had a meeting with acting Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Jose Luis Jacome, during which Ecuador affirmed that its Foreign Ministry will work closely with Vietnamese embassy in the South American country to realise measures to develop bilateral and multilateral ties. 

Both sides spoke highly of the efficiency of the political consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries and agreed to facilitate the exchange of all-level delegations. They vowed to offer mutual support at international organisations and multilateral forums on the basis of sharing common values of development, peace, stability and social equality. 

On the occasion, Son held a working session with Ecuadorian Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of Africa, Asia and the Pacific Lourdes Puma to discuss specific plans in the near future.
