Many wards in capital city of Hanoi cleared of dengue fever
VOV.VN - Officials at the Centre for Preventive Medicine announced Thursday, August 10, that the dengue fever virus is no longer being locally transmitted in large swaths of the capital city of Hanoi.
Public health workers have already sprayed mosquito breeding areas in many of the hardest hit wards in the districts of Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, Ba Dinh and Hoan Kiem to eliminate the dengue virus.
Fogging to kill the mosquitoes and larvae and remove the threat posed by the virus will continue during the overnight hours of 1am-5am through August 15 in trouble areas throughout the capital city.
The officials noted that residents still need to do their part and act to eliminate mozzie breeding sites on their properties and protect themselves and their families by spraying inside their homes in dark areas around such items as furniture and cabinets.
Year to date there have been six deaths attributed to dengue and 13,274 cases reported citywide.
The Centre has launched a 24-hour helpline – 0969241616 – that functions round the clock to provide all relevant information about dengue and its treatment.
