Legal basis added for Bulgaria to welcome Vietnamese workers

VOV.VN - Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria Rosen Dimitrov Jeliazkov has emphasized that in the coming time, the two sides will supplement the legal basis on labour between the two countries to create a basis for Bulgaria to welcome Vietnamese workers.

His statement was made at a press briefing held following the conclusion of talks between National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and his Bulgarian counterpart Rosen Dimitrov Jeliazkov following on January 8 in Hanoi.

Speaking to the press of the two countries, NA Chairman Hue once again affirmed that the Vietnamese side always values the traditional friendship and all-around co-operation with Bulgaria, considering it to be an invaluable asset that has been nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries during nearly 75 years of bilateral diplomatic ties.

In terms of implementing its foreign policy, the nation always focuses on strengthening the comprehensive partnership and ties with the EU, as well as relations with traditional countries in Central Eastern Europe, in which Bulgaria is a priority partner.

On this occasion, the top Vietnamese legislator hailed Bulgarian development achievements in a multitude of areas, as well as focusing on its rising position in the region and the world.

NA Chairman Hue said his talks with the Bulgarian NA leader were very successful with extensive exchanges held on the situation of bilateral co-operation in multiple fields and a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Based on the good results of collaboration between the two legislative bodies and the two countries over recent times, with a strong desire and determination to ramp up bilateral ties more closely and effectively moving forward, the two sides have agreed on some major co-operation directions such as intensifying delegation exchanges and meetings and at all levels. This will especially focus on high-level ones by the two legislatures, particularly strengthening experience exchange in law making.

The two sides therefore pledged to quickly, actively, and effectively carry out the Memorandum of Understanding between the two legislatures that was signed in September, 2023, during the recent visit to Bulgaria by the high-ranking Vietnamese NA delegation.

NA Chairman Hue emphasized that the two legislative bodies will closely work together to monitor the effective implementation of co-operation mechanisms and agreements between the two Governments.

Both nations will take full advantage of favourable frameworks in the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) to augment trade and investment ties between the two countries through supporting and encouraging connection and links between businesses of the two countries. Simultaneously, it will also create conditions to support business communities, as well as the people living, investing, and doing business in each country.

The two sides concurred to exploit the maximum potential and advantages of each country whilst complementing each other in the fields of agriculture, agricultural product processing and import-export, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, energy, and climate change response.

The Vietnamese side is keen to create suitable conditions for Bulgarian businesses to export goods to the nation such as wheat, vegetable oil, rose essential oil, and dried fruits, pharmaceuticals, along with co-operating in the fields of information technology, clean energy, and environmental protection.

Both parties will boost cultural, tourism, and educational ties, encourage co-operation between localities as a contribution to strengthening understanding, friendship, solidarity, and people-to-people exchanges.

NA Chairman Hue said he hopes that the Bulgarian NA will help to mobilise the parliaments of other EU countries to quickly ratify the EU - Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), making it come into effect. This will create a solid legal framework for EU businesses, including both Bulgarian and Vietnamese firms, to beef up bilateral investment ties for the benefit of both sides.

“With the good results in the recent cooperation, we have a solid basis to believe that the relationship between the two NAs will be elevated to new heights, contributing to strengthening the friendly relationship and all-around cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria in a deeper, more substantive, and comprehensive in all fields towards the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic relations in 2025," NA Chairman Hue said.

In response, the Bulgarian speaker highly appreciated the results of the recent talks, saying that the official visit to Bulgaria by NA Chairman Hue in September, 2023, and the ongoing official visit to Vietnam by the high-ranking Bulgarian NA delegation not only demonstrates the development of the relationship between the two countries, but also affirms the wide-ranging ties of the two law-making bodies.

Speaker Jeliazkov also stressed that the two sides need to be more responsible to fully tap into their potential and to capitalize on bilateral co-operation agreements signed between the two countries.
