Vice Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung has signed a document to be sent to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Trade on the export of 5 million tonnes in 2006.

The decision is based on the 2006 food production and balance plan by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The Vice Prime Minister emphasised that this year’s rice export process should be carefully considered and closely supervised for timely and effective export and food security.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Trade, in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Vietnam Food Association, will provide guidance to export businesses to buy stocks at prices beneficial to farmers and negotiate export contracts.
