COVID-19: An imported case raises national count to 2,591

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health confirmed an imported coronavirus case on March 28 afternoon, bringing the national tally of coronavirus infections to 2,591.

The female Vietnamese resident, 31, lives in Bac Giang province, northern Vietnam.

She entered the territory through Ha Tien International Bordergate in Kien Giang province, southern Vietnam, on March 27, and was placed in quarantine upon her arrival.

She tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus the same day, and was immediately transferred to a healthcare facility in Ha Tien city for medical surveillance and treatment.

Earlier in the morning, the Ministry of Health announced four imported cases, including two Philippine experts. 

As of 18.00hrs on March 28 Vietnam has recorded a total 2,591 coronavirus infections of whom 2,308 have been discharged from hospital following their recovery of the disease.

Of the remaining cases, 125 have tested negative for the virus at least once.

Nearly 45,000 people who either returned from epidemic hit countries or had contact with COVID-19 patients have been quarantined for medical observation nationwide.

The number of deaths caused by COVID-19 and related illnesses remains at 35.
