Six people were killed and two others seriously injured when the Ru Moc quarry in Thach Ban commune, central Ha Tinh province, collapsed at 5 pm on December 27.

The victims, including five women and one man, were loading stone onto a truck when the tragedy happened.


By 9.30 pm, rescue workers took two victims out of the rubble. The search is continuing to bring the remaining four out.


Of the two seriously injured, one died at hospital and the other is under intensive care.


On December 15, 18 workers were killed in a serious rockslide while quarrying stone for the construction of a hydro-electric power plant in Tuong Duong district of central Nghe An province.
