2018 Asian Para Games: Vietnamese athletes receive support

VKFrontier Co., a cosmetics company of the Republic of Korea, has announced its a sponsor package worth 12,000 USD for Vietnamese athletes who will compete at the upcoming 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia, which begin in October.

VKFrontier is the first company to sponsor the delegation. A ceremony was held on August 23 to make the announcement.

Speaking at the event, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Paralympic Association Vu The Phiet lauded the contributions and efforts of the athletes with disabilities, who have earned many outstanding achievements for the nation’s sport sector.

The sponsorship aims to encourage Vietnamese athletes at the continental sporting event, said CEO of VKFrontier Ahn Hee-kyoon.

The Vietnamese athletes will compete in seven sports at the 2018 Asian Para Games, namely athletics, swimming, powerlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess and judo.

Prominent athletes include Paralympics gold medallist powerlifter Le Van Cong and javelin thrower Cao Ngoc Hung.

At the previous Asian Para Games in 2014, Vietnam won nine gold, seven silver and 13 bronze medals, finishing tenth in the overall medal tally.
