COVID-19: 89 new cases confirmed in 5 localities over 6 hours
VOV.VN - Eighty-nine people have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in five localities across Vietnam over the past six hours, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in its 12.00am COVID-19 update.
Of the total, 88 were locally acquired cases, including 55 in Bac Giang, 20 in Ho Chi Minh City, 10 in Bac Ninh and three in Ha Tinh.
Most of the cases were detected in quarantine and lockdown areas, thus posing no risk to the community, said the MoH.
The MoH also announced an imported case has been documented during the past six hours. A three-year-old boy returning to Vietnam through Long Binh International Bordergate tested positive on June 11.
The fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic which started in late April has attacked 39 cities and provinces across the country, with 6,936 cases confirmed.
Overall, Vietnam has logged a total of 10,137 cases, both locally transmitted and imported infections, since the SARS – CoV - 2 virus emerged in January 2020.
Fifty-eight COVID-19 deaths have been reported, including 23 cases during the latest outbreak.
More than 3,800 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.
