Vietnam’s first satellite image receiver will be inaugurated in early July, said an official from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE).

Nguyen Xuan Lam, Director of the MoNRE’s National Remote Sensing Centre, said on June 26 that the station, located in Hanoi’s outlying district of Tu Liem, was built at a cost of nearly EUR20 million, sourced from France’s loans.

The station will process images taken by satellite to update land and forest inventories and source locations of burned-down or destroyed forest areas.
