Vietnam ranks second at ASEAN team tennis champs

 Vietnam finished second in the ASEAN Team Tennis Championship, which concluded in Singapore on May 9.

Vietnam lost to Indonesia 2-3 in the final match to narrowly miss out on the title.

Vietnam won the men’s singles and doubles through the strong play of veteran Trinh Linh Giang. They lost in the women’s singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.

Vietnam beat Singapore 4-1 and Malaysia 3-2.

The event drew four teams including Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Following the event, Vietnamese tennis players will have a week off to prepare for the National Tennis Championship at Hai Dang Club in the southern province of Tay Ninh from May 15-22.

The national event will attract the participation of more than 100 players from 11 teams with prizes totalling 200 million VND (8,600 USD).
