Hanoi ready for partnership conference between Vietnamese and French localities

The conference is being viewed as an opportunity to review and evaluate the results of the contents that have been implemented in co-operation between Vietnamese and French localities. The main aim of the event is to deal with difficulties and challenges and devise solutions aimed at accelerating the implementation of policies on co-operative relations, linkages, and mutually-beneficial partnerships between localities of the two countries,

The event will contribute to promoting the traditional friendship, comprehensive, long-term and reliable cooperation relationship that exists between both countries as well as expanding new partnerships.

The conference will focus on discussing four thematic sessions on sustainable urban areas, the environment, water and water treatment; culture, heritage and tourism, smart cities, and digitisation.

Hanoi will host the Vietnam - France Economic Forum which is slated for April 15.

Other activities to be planned within the anniversary programme include high-level conferences between the two countries’ universities and a festival introducing French delicacies held on the pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem lake in the middle of April.

Other science and cultural events will also be a part of the anniversary schedule including Horizon Innovation, a photo exhibition showcasing Hanoi on the wall of the French Embassy, fashion shows, Hue at night, and heritage shows.

There will be many events held in public spaces which will be open for everyone.

A string of commemorative activities will be held throughout the year in a bid to mark 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties and 10 years of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and France.

The conference is expected to draw the participation of more than 800 delegates from both countries, including leaders of relevant ministries and sectors, as well as local authorities.

Furthermore, the event will be attended by representatives from friendship associations, the Vietnamese community in France, overseas Vietnamese intellectuals and patriots in France, as well as those from co-operation projects between the two nations, a number of non-governmental organisations, research institutes, universities, and Vietnamese and French business communities.
