97 further cases confirmed, with HCM City suffering most infections

VOV.VN - A further 97 new cases of COVID-19, including 88 local cases and 9 imported infections were recorded on June 22 evening, with Ho Chi Minh City registering the most infections at 136 for the whole day, according to the Health Ministry.

84 out of 88 local cases were detected in isolation or lockdown areas, imposing no risk of virus tramismission to the community.

The new cases in other localities are either F1 contacts or associated with confirmed outbreaks in isolation areas.

Following the latest discovery, the nation has so far confirmed 12,010 local infections, and 1,717 imported ones.

As many as 10,875 locally-transmitted cases were detected in the latest coronavirus wave that hit the nation nearly two months ago.

The same day, an additional 93 coronavirus patients were discharged from hospital, bringing the total recoveries to 5,546.

The new patients have propelled the HCM City's infection tally to rank second in the ongoing wave, surpassing Bac Ninh, with 1,920 cases being recorded so far.

According to the city's Health Department, the southern metropolis would run 650 vaccination sites to inoculate 200,000 doses each day so it is able to utilize the entire 836,000 batch by June 27.
