COVID-19: Two foreigners among six imported cases detected in Vietnam

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health (MoH) confirmed six more imported coronavirus cases, including two foreign citizens, in Khanh Hoa, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau and An Giang on April 23 afternoon.

A Philippine sailor, 50, boarded a boat from China to Vietnam’s Ba Ria – Vung Tau province on April 18 and was placed in quarantine upon his arrival.

The man tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus four days later and was immediately transferred to a local health facility for medical surveillance and treatment.

Another foreigner, an Indian expert, 37, flew from his home country to Vietnam’s Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa province on April 20.

His positive test results were confirmed on April 22 and the patient was quarantined at the Khanh Hoa Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment.

Four other patients are Vietnamese citizens, of whom three returned to the homeland from Russia and Japan, and one crossed Long Binh bordergate into An Giang province.

They all tested positive during their stay in concentrated quarantine facilities, thus posing no risk to the community, said the MoH in its 18.00hrs update.

Vietnam has so far recorded a total of 2,890 coronavirus cases, including 2,490 recoveries.
