VinFast selects T-Mobile as exclusive global connectivity provider for EVs

VOV.VN - Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast unveiled on December 8 that the company has selected T-Mobile, the leading telecommunications company in the United States, as the exclusive provider of connectivity for smart EVs in North America and Europe.

The long-term co-operation deal is worth tens of millions of US$ and is expected to provide VinFast customers with a personalised experience and the ability to leverage near-real-time telemetry data for timely maintenance and service decisions.

Under the terms of the agreement, T-Mobile will provide connectivity for VinFast’s EVs models in both North America and Europe.

The VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, and VF 9 models will all feature built-in capabilities that power connected services, such as remote vehicle services; streaming media and gaming on-the-go; safety features, including live traffic information; Wi-Fi hotspot data on select models to help passengers stay connected; as well as over the air firmware and software updates.

Furthermore, with Internet of Things (IoT) solutions from T-Mobile, VinFast will be able to connect and manage its vehicle maintenance schedules globally based on near-real-time data and remote notifications.

Through the installation of these technologies, the VinFast store system will advise and help customers both store and manage the maintenance schedule for their EVs.

Le Thi Thu Thuy, vice chairwoman of Vingroup and Global CEO of VinFast, said the goal of VinFast is to turn the smart electric car into a platform that connects all aspects of life.

Indeed, the partnership with the world's leading telecommunications firm T-Mobile will help VinFast to achieve its goals whilst simultaneously providing customers with advanced features to ensure that the driving experience is safer, more efficient, and enjoyable.

Callie Field, president of T-Mobile Business Group, pointed out that T-Mobile and VinFast are both driven by a customer-centric mindset which is a source of inspiration and motivation to help the companies meet their respective customers’ needs.

EVs have been rapidly evolving over recent years, developing from a mere mode of transportation into a companion that offers productivity, entertainment, and safety features throughout the journey, Field said, adding that the company is willing to help VinFast customers to savour the experience

Currently, the Vietnamese firm has established a solid position within the global market with a complete range of pure EVs, including the VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, and VF 9.

The company’s headquarters is located in Los Angeles and has already seen the launch of a series of stores in California. It also announced plans to build a factory in North Carolina (USA) recently.

In late November, VinFast exported the first batch of VF 8 cars to the US market, with plans to move into the Canadian and European markets in the future.
