Vietnam is gearing up for the 2012 London Olympics by sending its top athletes to a range of international sporting events.

The country’s Judo team will compete in the 2012 Asian Judo Championships in Uzbekistan from April 26-29, which is seen as an important warm-up tournament for judokas from many countries, before they take part in this Summer Olympics.

Vietnamese swimmers are currently training in the US; they previously took part in the Indianapolis Grand Prix in India, from March 29-31, which was acknowledged as a qualifier for the 2012 London Olympics by the International Swimming Federation.

The Aerobics team will also be present at the Suzuki World Cup Series B, from April 21-22 in Tokyo, Japan, to hone their skills before entering the World Aerobics Championships in Bulgaria this May.

Meanwhile, the golden girl, gymnast Phan Thi Ha Thanh, is competing at the ART World Cup Series C in China, where former and reigning champions from the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, in 2011 will also appear.

Nine Vietnamese athletes have so far qualified for the 2012 Olympics, namely Phan Thi Ha Thanh and Pham Phuoc Hung (gymnastics), Le Huynh Chau and Chu Hoang Dieu Linh (taekwondo), Van Ngoc Tu (judo), Hoang Xuan Vinh and Le Thi Hoang Ngoc (shooting), Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc (athletics) and Nguyen Thi Lua (wrestling).
