Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has affirmed that the Vietnamese Government and people will do their best to promote broad cooperation with Australia, particularly in the areas of economics, trade, investment, education and training and science and technology for their mutual benefit.

Receiving the new Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Allastar Cox in Hanoi on October 10, the PM said he was pleased with the increasing levels of cooperation between the two countries.

He cited soaring trade value, investment capital and development aid Australia has given to Vietnam as examples of their developing relationship.

The Vietnamese leader expressed his hope that the two countries’ ties will be boosted in a more practical and effective manner following his up-coming visit to Australia.

Sharing this view, Ambassador Allastar Cox said he expects the visit to lift the two countries’ relationship to new heights, particularly in matters relating to economics, trade and investment.

The diplomat added that the two countries will further cooperate in major projects such as the building of Cao Lanh bridge in the Mekong delta and the opening of a wholly-Australian owned bank in Vietnam in the near future.
