Deputy National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien received a delegation from the South African parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises on August 13.

During the meeting, newly-appointed Deputy Chairman Kien said the legislative bodies of the two countries should strengthen their bilateral and multilateral cooperation and support the two governments in their efforts to realise the commitments already made by the two sides, especially relating to trade activities.

The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises, Yunus Ismail Carrim, who led the delegation, said the Vietnamese people’s victory in the struggle for national liberation served as an encouragement for South African people in their fight against apartheid. He expressed his wish that in the future, cooperation between the two legislatures would be enhanced along with the increased cooperation the governments and businesses of the two nations would likely share.

While in Vietnam, the delegation held talks with the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Economic and Budget Committee, the Government Office’s Business Reform and Development Department, the Ministry of Transport and the Electricity of Vietnam Group.
