Mexico keen to bolster economic links with Vietnam

(VOV)- The eastern Mexican state of Yucatan is making efforts to attract Vietnamese investors with the purpose of boosting a partnership with Vietnam, said Yucatan Governor Rolando Zapata Bello at a recent meeting with Vietnam Ambassador to Mexico Le Linh Lan. 

The ambassador stated that the similar climate, geographic and cultural features between Vietnam and Yucatan provide a foundation for forging future collaboration, especially in tourism and agriculture, noting that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement will give a boost to stronger Vietnam-Mexico trade ties once it is signed.

Lan briefed her host on Vietnamese socio-economic situation in the first half of this year and activities planned to celebrate the two countries’ diplomatic relations.

Having 43,000 square kilometres and a population of more than two million people,Yucatan boasts an agricultural economy among the leading Mexican states in poultry, egg and beef production. 

During her trip to the state from June 19-21 at the invitation of Yucatan State administration, Ambassador Lan cut the ribbon opening a local Lotus Festival.
