A delegation of representatives from major US corporations arrived in Vietnam on May 4 to start seeking business opportunities on a trip organised annually by the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC).

Vu Tu Thanh, a representative of USABC in Vietnam, said the number of US companies arriving in Vietnam this year was the USABC’s largest delegation to date.

The delegation comprises 50 high-ranking officials from 23 groups and companies, including General Electric, AES, Boeing, Chevron and ConocoPhilips. It is led by USABC chairman Matthew P. Daley and GE Southeast Asia president Stuart Dean.

These groups and corporations are seeking opportunities to do business in the country in a wide range of areas, including agriculture, infrastructure, energy, transport, aviation, finance, pharmaceuticals, express courier services, human resources, information and technology.

From May 5-7, the delegation will meet with Vietnamese Party and Government leaders and ministries.

The delegation is planned to participate in the opening session of the National Assembly scheduled for May 6.
