The key tasks of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) chapters at all levels in 2008 is to strengthen the great national unity bloc, encourage patriotic movements, carry out the State’s socio-economic tasks, participate in making Party and administration committees strong and transparent and successfully organise the VFF congress at all levels, according to VFF President Pham The Duyet.

Mr Duyet made the remarks at the 9th conference of the VFF’s presidium in Hanoi on January 3. The two-day conference focused on discussing the tasks of the VFF for 2008 and plans to organise the VFF’s 7th Congress.


Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Duyet emphasised the importance of VFF chapters at all levels and many changes the VFF made in its activities.

The VFF chapters and member organisations put in a great deal of efforts to implement the 2007 action programme launched by the VFF Central Committee with the aim of strengthening the great national unity bloc. They coordinated to promote patriotic movements, and campaigns to improve people’s spiritual lives as part of the “Day for the Poor” campaign.


In 2007, more than 13 million households received the “cultural family” title and 60,180 residential areas won the title of “advanced residential area”.


In November  2007 alone, the Fund for the Poor at all levels collected more than VND320 billion. The country built and repaired over 52,000 houses for the poor.
