The American general insurance company (AIG) on October 17 officially launched its AIGeMarine. com, an online certificate system for its customers in Vietnam, the first of its kind offered by an insurer in the country.

Terence Anderson, AIG Vietnam director, said the service enabled online shipment declaration and real-time certificate printing for contracted customers.
The customers will be assigned with a unique user identification and password which eMarine uses to recognize the customers.

“As long as they have access to the Internet, the insured can issue marine insurance certificates wherever and whenever - within their office, at home, during or after working hours,” he noted.

Data sent from user’s Internet browser to eMarine server are encrypted for increased data security protection.

The service began its experimental operation in August and has attracted 50 customers, according to Terence Anderson.

Since late 2005, the company offered different business lines including marine, energy, property, casualty, accident and health insurance.
