Vietnam’s export turnover to Algeria in the first half of this year was estimated at US$37,855 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14 percent, according to Algerian Customs.

Machinery and pepper exports achieved the highest values of US$890,000 and US$730,000, respectively, followed by shoes (US$323,000), garments (US$244,000) and frozen fish (US$788,000). Meanwhile, rice exports remained at around US$560,000.

Among Vietnamese products, much appreciated by Algerians are sports shoes, labour protective clothes and fine arts handicrafts.

However, most of Vietnamese export items to Algeria are semi-finished products with half the volume reaching customers via an intermediary.
