UK Ambassador to Vietnam Mark Kent has said the UK has a policy to support Vietnamese students in all fields.

The UK’s assistance policy for Vietnamese students will include building training centres to provide local students with essential knowledge and skills before they go to study abroad, said Mr Kent.

Around 5,000 Vietnamese students are pursuing education in the UK. The number of visas granted to Vietnamese students by the UK Embassy in Vietnam rose by 15 percent in 2007.

At Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday celebrations at Hong Bang University in Ho Chi Minh City on June 17, the UK Ambassador and Chairman of the HCM City Union of Friendship Organizations Huynh Ngoc An expressed their delight at the growing relations between the two countries, especially in the areas of trade, investment, education and training, and development assistance.
