The Mainichi Daily News said that the talks between the two leaders have opened up a new phase of bilateral relations, helping to build a strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.

The Mainichi Daily News on 20 April reported on the outcomes of the talks between Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and Prime Minister Taro Aso. The paper also published the joint statement highlighting both parties’ agreement to conduct annual high-level visits, and exchanges between both political parities and parliaments.

The newspaper quoted Party leader Nong Duc Manh as saying that Vietnam hopes Japan would take a positive and objective stance towards the resumption of the six-party talks on  the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s nuclear policy.

The daily newspaper Sankei Shimbun said that the Vietnamese Party leader’s visit to Japan shows that relations between the two countries continue to grow and flourish.

The same day, the NHK TV channel covered a series of meetings between Party leader Nong Duc Manh and Japanese government leaders and members of parliament in which it praised the results of the talks between Mr Manh and PM Taro Aso.

By releasing the joint statement, Vietnam and Japan entered a new era in the history of friendship and cooperation between both countries will help to build a strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.
