Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong has underlined the improvement of assessing and examining legal documents as one of the main tasks for the judicial branch in 2010.

He told the 2010 conference for judicial activities in the north, held in Hanoi on January 11, that many political events of great significance will take place in 2010 and the judicial sector must strive to contribute more to the country’s socio-economic development.

Mr Trong suggested the sector should conduct research to contribute its ideas to political documents for the Party’s 11th National Congress to help clarify issues faced during the process of building a socialist law-governed state.

The Deputy Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Justice to effectively complete the ordinances on unifying and legalizing law-regulated documents to provide a tool for arranging better legal systems, thereby creating more favourable conditions for citizens and businesses.

Mr Trong said the execution of civil cases remains very poor and requires more effort from the Ministry of Justice to effectively enforce the law on executing legal cases. He told the ministry to concentrate on strengthening its apparatus at all levels.

Participants in the conference set out seven major tasks for 2010, which closely follow the country’s socio-economic development plans and the 2010 state budget estimate.

In 2009, the reform of administrative procedures in the judicial sector was conducted extensively with most of localities nationwide having already installed the ‘one-stop shop’ mechanism, publicly listing procedures for each kind of work.
