The Central Paediatrics Hospital will perform a bone marrow and stem cell transplant in the second quarter of this year, said Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Liem.

Associate Prof. Dr. Liem, who is also director of the hospital, said “We use such transplants for leukemia, lymphoma and other cancer patients. The patient has to use medicine against rejection for only 18 months after the operation.”

As soon as the technique is completed, the hospital is expected to conduct between 20-30 transplants each year, he added.
