A festival of Vietnamese people with disabilities will be held in Hanoi from April 14-18 to mark Vietnam's Day of Disabled People (April 18).

At a press briefing in Hanoi on April 7, the organising board said the festival aims to help disabled people's production businesses to display their products and seek partners as well as raise public awareness about the disabled.

The festival will include a seminar on the recruitment of disabled people into businesses, a fair-cum-exhibition introducing typical products made by disabled people's enterprises nationwide, and an exchange programme.

Vietnam currently has more than 5.2 million disabled people, 60 percent of whom are of working age and able to earn their livings themselves. However, many of them are unable to get stable jobs.
