One of the key tasks to be implemented in 2006 is to continue promoting State administrative reforms, practising thrift and preventing waste and corruption, says Prime Minister Phan Van Khai.

At a recent regular Government meeting, PM Khai proposed specific and strategic measures to effectively implement the National Assembly’s resolutions and tasks set for 2006.

The focus will be on promoting the mobilisation of development and investment capital, improving the efficiency of investment, practising thrift, preventing corruption, waste and losses in capital construction investment, and boosting socialisation together with renewing social management mechanisms.

Mr Khai asked provinces and cities to comply with the Party guidelines, policies and the National Assembly’s resolutions aimed at boosting socio economic development and improving the quality of development, efficiency of production and competitive capacity of products.

He also underscored the need to effectively utilise the country’s inner strength to attract more foreign investment and promote the socialisation of education, healthcare, culture and sports, and poverty reduction. In addition, ministries and sectors at all levels are required to be highly vigilant against a bird flu epidemic and the possible influenza pandemic in humans.

It is imperative to renew propaganda activities to create favorable conditions for people to contribute their opinions to building a strong and transparent State apparatus and combating wrongdoings committed by unqualified and degenerated staff.
