According to Radio Free Asia (RFA), up to January 21, the European Union (EU) has recognized 269 Vietnamese businesses as conforming to food safety hygiene standards and has allowed them to enter European market.

The figure has increased after EU admitted another 25 businesses, including 23 processing and aquatic products trading companies and 2 canned food producers.

The Vietnam Association of Aquaculture Export and Processing Enterprises (VASEP) estimated Vietnam will export aquatic products with a total value of US$1 billion to the EU by the end of 2008.
