HCM City hosts Truong Sa, Hoang Sa exhibition

(VOV) - HCM City will hold an exhibition entitled “Vietnam’s Hoang Sa, Truong Sa – Historical Evidence” from August 22–29, showcasing nearly 150 maps and documents affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

The Ministry of Information and Communications announced the exhibition at an August 16 press briefing in collaboration with the Government Office and the HCM City People’s Committee.

Visitors can examine copies of classical Chinese, Vietnamese, and French language documents issued by Vietnamese feudal states from the 17th to early 20th centuries, as well as four Chinese atlases published over 1908 to 1933.

The exhibition is considered an important contribution to promoting the historical and legal evidence proving Vietnam’s indisputable sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. It hopes to enlist the sovereignty-defending efforts of the Vietnamese citizenry themselves.

Foreign Information Department Head Le Van Nghiem said the exhibition’s vivid images will deepen understandings of the issues surrounding sovereignty over the two islands.
