The Government leader praised the committee’s and Keidanren’s contributions to bilateral initiatives improving Vietnam’s investment environment, promoting its advantages to Japanese businesses, and enhancing Vietnam’s international competitiveness.

Dung said he hoped the joint initiatives will be of particularly use to the six areas prioritized under Vietnamese-Japanese cooperation: electronics, agricultural machinery, agro-fishery product processing, shipbuilding, energy, and automobile and spare part production.

Kyohei said his delegation intends on participating in the first policy dialogue between the Vietnam Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and Keidanren and attending a meeting to launch the fifth phase of the Vietnam-Japan joint initiative.

Both sides will discuss measures to expand Japanese direct investment in Vietnam as well as the relationship’s economic prospects and challenges.

The initiative’s four completed stages were proven successes and the fifth is anticipated to consolidate the advances made in tailoring Vietnam’s investment environment to attract Japanese enterprises.

The Co-Chairs are confident combined efforts will bring Vietnam and Japan lucrative cooperative results well into the future.

They reiterated their hope that the Vietnamese Government will foster favourable conditions for Japanese investors to seize opportunities for productive long-term cooperation in Vietnam.
