Victor Vu’s new film to be introduced at Cannes Film Festival

(VOV) - A new film “Hoa vàng trên cỏ xanh” (Yellow Flowers on The Green Grass), directed by Vietnamese American film director and screenwriter Victor Vu, will be screened at the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival in May.

Fortissimo Films, a global leading film, television and video sales companies, have rights of this Vietnamese film and premier it during the film festival.

“There is a whole new wave of cinema emanating from Vietnam that captures the energy, dynamism, introspective storytelling, and cinematic/technical sophistication of that society which is in transition. Victor encapsulates all of those trends with this latest project,” said Michael J. Werner, Fortissimo chairman.

The film is based on the hit novel, “I See Yellow Flowers Upon The Green Grass”, by Nguyen Nhat Anh, telling the childhood of two brothers in 1980s. It is scheduled to be screened across Vietnam later in August.

The 68th annual Cannes Film Festival is set to begin in France on May 13-24.

Joel and Ethan Coen have been announced as the Presidents of the Jury for the main competition. It's the first time that two people will co-chair the jury.
