The EC mission and the German Embassy held a press briefing in Hanoi on April 23 to introduce the European Days Festival to Vietnam.

The European Days will begin in late April and run until May, in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with 19 cultural events organized by the EC mission, embassies of EU member countries and the European Culture Centre.

The festival will begin with the “European Cow Herd” exhibition, organized by the Netherlands Embassy. The unique exhibition will feature 28 cows that symbolise the 27 EU member countries and the EC.

During the festival, many other activities will also be held such as European film week, contemporary dance, sports events, an EU quiz and a round-table discussion on EU and Vietnamese culture.

Speaking at the press briefing, Holger Seubert, a representative from the German Embassy, said that the “European Days” has significant meaning as it marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the EU, since then all EU member countries have established relations with Vietnam.

Markus Cornaro, Ambassador and Head of the EC Delegation to Vietnam said the European Days event demonstrates multilateral co-operation between Vietnam and the EU. It will also be a bridge of friendship between Vietnamese and European people.
