First international hospital in Phu Quoc inaugurated

Real estate developer Vingroup inaugurated its Vinmec international general hospital on June 19 in Phu Quoc Island in southern Kien Giang province.

This is the first international-standard hospital in the island providing high-quality medical services for both locals and tourists. The staff has been recruited from prestigious hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho city, Thua Thien-Hue province and Hanoi and includes a number of foreign medical professionals.

Its construction began in July last year with a total investment of VND1 trillion (US$45.9 million) across 19,000 square metres. The six-storey hospital has 150 beds, 11 functional rooms and advanced equipment.

Vinmec Phu Quoc hospital is expected to provide medical check-ups for 26,000 people and medical treatment for over 4,000 people each year.

The hospital is also studying short-term insurance options for tourists to make them feel more secure on the island.

Phu Quoc, also known as Pearl Island, is the largest island in Vietnam with a total area of about 580 square kilometres. It has become well-known for its stunning beaches, untouched natural environment, relaxed atmosphere, friendly and easygoing local people and fantastic scuba diving and snorkelling.
