Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Bui Ba Bong on May 12 signed a decision on setting up a steering committee for foot-and-mouth disease control headed by Mr Bui Quang Anh, head of the Central Veterinary Department with the aim of launching prevention measures nationwide in line with legal regulations.
MARD is compiling regulations on foot-and-mouth disease prevention and supplements to the policies on vaccination and destruction of affected cattle. The Ministry will also submit a financial plan for disease control to the Prime Minister for approval and ask provinces and cities to promptly set up steering boards in order to stamp out the epidemic.
