Southeastern provinces report stable growth in H1

The seven provinces in the southeastern region have reported stable economic growth in the first half of this year, with an average GRDP expansion of 7.79%.

The growth was attributable to patriotic emulation campaigns, said officials from Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc at a conference in Tay Ninh on July 25 to review the outcomes of emulation campaigns in the region during January-June.

Ninh Thuan province posted the highest GRDP growth rate at 10.1%, followed by Binh Thuan with 8.58%, and Tay Ninh 7.7%.

Dong Nai saw a growth of 7.5%, while both Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau enjoyed an expansion of 7%, and Binh Phuoc, 6.64%.

The region earned a total of US$24.16 billion from exports, with Binh Duong alone accounting for US$12 billion.

Also during the period, the region absorbed US$2.422 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI).

The seven provinces contributed more than VND98.3 trillion (US$4.25 billion) to the State budget, led by Ba Ria-Vung Tau with VND37.1 trillion (US$1.6 billion) completing 72.7% of its yearly plan. Binh Duong collected VND24.6 trillion (US$1.06 billion, 47% of yearly plan), and Dong Nai, VND23 trillion (US$994.3 million, 44% of yearly plan).

Outstanding examples in emulation campaigns in the region were rewarded on the occasion.
