Sports tournament celebrates Vietnam-Netherlands diplomatic relations
VOV.VN - An open sports tournament was recently launched in the Netherlands to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands which began in 1973.
The event witnessed the participation of many basketball and football teams from the Netherlands, as well as other European countries such as Hungary, Belgium, and France.
In his opening speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Pham Viet Anh applauded the sportsmanship shown by the athletes, noting the tournament would help to improve their health and strengthen solidarity among Vietnamese expatriates in Europe.
This was the first time that the open sports tournament co-organised by the Vietnamese Students Association, the overseas Vietnamese Association, and the Vietnamese Women's Union in the Netherlands has been held.
The Vietnamese Students Association in the Netherlands was established in 2008 and is sponsored by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands. The association has put forward initiatives in order to gather and encourage students during their daily lives.
