PM to co-chair Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee meeting

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is due to attend and co-chair the 40th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee in Laos on February 4-5, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The government leader will be accompanied by a high-ranking Government delegation, as guests of Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith.

Vietnam and Laos have long enjoyed close-knit traditional friendship, special solidarity and all-around cooperation.

Bilateral trade reached US$900 million in 2017, a year-on-year increase of more than 10%. Both nations aim to raise their trade to US$4 billion by 2020.

Vietnamese businesses have poured US$5 billion in 276 projects in Laos, primarily focusing on energy, services, infrastructure, mining, agriculture and forestry.
