A trans-Vietnam walk along the coastline entitled “Walk for Children and Environment Protection” will be held in response to a UN appeal for “Building a World Fit for Children” and the Vietnamese President’s letter to the organizing board of “the Action Month for Coastal Children 2007”.

Participants in the event come from a wide range of backgrounds, including social activists, teachers, diplomats, students, journalists and children from coastal areas.

Starting from Nai cape in southern Kien Giang province on October 1, they will walk through 28 coastal areas nationwide before finishing in Ngoc cape in northern Quang Ninh province on November 18.

On the way, meetings will be held to call for the protection of children and the environment. The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs will announce the UN Secretary-General’s summary report “Study on Violence against Children” in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Kien Giang province and Quang Ninh province.
