National top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh on October 22 lost unexpectedly to Eric Pang from the Netherlands in the first round of the Denmark Open Super Series.
Minh, who is the world seed No. 21, was expected to win at least one match here but was defeated 17-21, 17-21 by Pang who was 10 spots under him in the world ranking.
Players from 27 nations are competing in the Denmark Open Super Series, taking place in Odense City from October 21 to 26. The winners will walk away with US$170,000.
