US trade delegation welcomed in Hanoi

VOV.VN - Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh gave a reception to an US delegation, led by Karl Ehlers, Assistant US Trade Representative for the Office of Southeast Asia and the Pacific, in Hanoi on January 25.

At the meeting, the US delegates informed the Vietnamese Party official about their trip in Vietnam, including working sessions with the ministries of Industry and Trade, Foreign Affairs, Public Security, and with the State Bank of Vietnam.

Binh was appreciative of the contents and outcomes of these meetings as well as the healthy growth of the Vietnam – US comprehensive partnership with practical outcomes across diverse fields, covering regional and global aspects.

The Vietnamese Party and State greatly value ties with the US, considering the country one of Vietnam’s top partners, particularly in economic and trade cooperation, Binh told his guests.

Ehlers said he hopes Vietnam and the US would further propel their economic and trade ties forward in the future.

Bilateral trade between both nations surged from US$450 million in 1994 to in excess of US$ 60 billion in 2018. For many consecutive years, the US has been Vietnam’s biggest export market, while the Southeast Asian nation has been among the US’ highest-growth export markets.
