Rare sea turtle released back into ocean

VOV.VN - The local authorities of Loc Ha district in Ha Tinh province have released a rare sea turtle that was accidentally caught by a local fisherman back into the ocean so it can return to its natural habitat.

This comes after fisherman Tran Doan Phap from Loc Ha town found the turtle, which is a total of 1.2 meters in length and weighs 80 kg, in his net while fishing around Cua Sot on May 19.

Knowing that it is a rare species, he subsequently handed over the animal to the local authorities.

The species of turtle had previously been included in the red book of threatened species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, indicating that it is endangered.

Once checked and confirmed to be in a good health, the turtle was subsequently released back into the sea.
