Nationwide ordination held in tribute to late King
Ordination ceremonies have been organized in many provinces as a way of making merit for His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej ahead of the 100th day of his passing.
Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Gen Chatchai Sarikalya presided over a mass ordination of 89 people into monkhood at Wat Rai Khing in Nakhon Pathom province.
Among those being ordained were civil servants and state employees. The activity was aimed at providing participants with an opportunity to commemorate the 100th day since the death of King Rama IX by studying Buddhist teachings and improving themselves spiritually.
Another 181 people in Chaiyaphum province took part in the local ordination ceremony, which was chaired by Governor Chusak Treesarn at Wat Phairi Phinat in the capital district.
The ceremony was held under the collaboration between the Chaiyaphum provincial administration and the local monastic body to enable loyal subjects to make merit for their beloved monarch.
At Wat Kawisararam in Mueang district of Lop Buri, the provincial sangha administration and the provincial office of Buddhism jointly hosted a mass ordination dedicated to the late King. The event saw a total of 110 people entering the monkhood.
Governor of Satun Pattarapon Ratanaphichetchai also chaired a similar activity, in which he presented the 99 newly-ordained monks with saffron robes.
The acting chief of the provincial sangha administration co-hosted the event, with sponsorship from a number of local agencies and public members.
