Consular Office of Seychelles inaugurated in Vietnam

(VOV) - The Republic of Seychelles opened its consular office in Hanoi on June 18 and appointed Le Thanh Thao, director of Asia Sun Travel, as its honorary consular.

At the function, Seychelles’ ambassador in charge of Vietnam Philippe Le Gall noted that the 155-island state expressed a desire to establish a permanent representative office in Hanoi two years ago, and the issue was officially discussed during President James Alix Michel’s visit to Vietnam in September 2013.

Seychelles established its consular offices in Japan, the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.

The Vietnam-based office is expected to take advantage of opportunities from economic integration of ASEAN member states in 2015 when the ASEAN Economic Community is founded.

Newly appointed consular Thao said she will try to promote the image of Vietnam and Seychelles through tourism cooperation.

Seychelles plans to attend the Vietnam International Expo 2015 (Vietnam Expo).
