Mozambique desires for closer cooperation with Vietnam

(VOV) - Mozambique President Armando Emilio voiced his nation’s eagerness to boost mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnam for the common development of both nations.

President Armando Emilio made the statement at a 19 February reception welcoming Vietnamese ambassador to Mozambique Nguyen Van Trung, who presented a letter of credentials from State President Truong Tan Sang.

President Emilio congratulated Trung on his new position and expressed his earnest hope that the Vietnamese diplomat will act as bridge for further promotion of the fine traditional friendship between Vietnam and Mozambique.

Ambassador Trung in turn applauded the national development achievements of Mozambique, especially noting its accomplishment in poverty reduction which has elevated the nation’s regional and international status.

He pledged his utmost efforts to deepen across the board cooperation with Mozambique, especially in agriculture, healthcare, education, trade and investment.

He also cited Movitel, a joint venture between Vietnam’s military telecom group Viettel and Mozambique’s SPI and Invespar companies, as a successful investment model.

After the presentation ceremony, ambassador Trung hosted a meeting with Vietnamese residents living in Mozambique and laid a wreath on a boulevard named after President Ho Chi Minh at the capital city of Maputo.
