Australia’s Ambassador for HIV/AIDS Murray Proctor visited Vietnam on May 21-22 with the aim of studying issues related to HIV/AIDS in Vietnam.

On May 21, Mr. Proctor visited Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong to learn about the results of the visit to Australia by the Deputy PM in May, 2008 when the Australian government shared experiences in combating drug addiction and HIV/AIDS.

Mr. Proctor also announced that AUD300,000 in assistance would be given to developing policies on HIV in Vietnam.

Australia had granted AUD11 million to help Vietnam prevent HIV/AIDS and care for HIV-infected patients.
