Representatives from the Organising Board of the Miss Universe Pageant has recently made a fact-finding tour of Vietnam to explore the country’s possibility as host of the event in 2008.
In a press interview after the tour, chairwoman of the Organising Board Paula Mary Shugart said Vietnam is a promising contender for the 2008 event. She said she was impressed by Vietnam’s beautiful landscape and human hospitality, which are important criteria for the panel to select the venue.
However, she said the panel will provide the answer in the next two months after gathering and analysing information from the tour.
In preparation for the prestigious event, the country must receive support from the Government and its people, and meet requirements for live TV broadcasts and infrastructure facilities as well as tourism services, the chairwoman added.
