Agriculture, farmers and rural areas play a strategic role in national construction and defense, and they have been the fundamental factors for sustainable socioeconomic development in recent years.

The programme for building new rural areas in the capital city has obtained remarkable achievements, including improving people’s living standards and ensuring social security, and many localities in the city have followed the new national criteria for their new rural areas.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Cong Soai, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, said Hanoi is the first city in the country to support the programme. The ceremony concretizes the 7th National Party Congress Resolution No.26 on agriculture, farmers and rural areas and the targets for building new rural areas up to 2020.
