Hyundai Merchant, Saigon NewPort finalize agreement

VOV.VN - Hyundai Merchant Marine Co., the biggest shipping line by sales in the Republic of Korea, said yesterday (July 9) it will work with a Vietnamese company on a port development project in the Southeast Asian country.

The Yonhap News reported that Hyundai Merchant said in a statement that it had signed an initial agreement with Saigon NewPort to jointly develop and operate port terminals and other logistics facilities.

Vietnam is a strategically important market, said Hyundai Merchant CEO Yoo Chang-keun at the signing ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City.

This year, the shipping volume of Hyundai Merchant to Vietnam is likely to jump by more than 50% compared with last year due to rising demand.

Hyundai Merchant currently operates four routes in total to Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong.
